Advent has started last week. It is very important to have a period time preparing our hearts before Christmas. We think that Christmas comes back every single year but I would like to have a new Christmas in every year. I have asked myself how many times I have had "real Christmas" in my life. I could count a few but now many. It is also the busiest time of a year always. It makes harder to focus on our heart toward Jesus.
The chancel choir will lift up this beautiful advent song "waiting for a king" as anthem this week. And the adult handbell will praise " in the bleak winter" as an offertory. Both has beautiful text. I pray that we have a desire to have our Lord, Jesus in our heart and give ourselves as offering to Him. The last verse of "in the bleak winter" is my favorite. This week is also our consecration Sunday. I hope everyone bring their hearts to the Lord. He doesn't need anything because He already has everything. but, He wants our hearts. Don't you think?
Here are two songs' text.
Waiting for the King
Waiting for a king; when will he come? Waiting for a king; God's holy one.
Will the world be ready?Is his advent near?
Waiting for a king. When will he appear?
Waiting for a king; when will he come?
Waiting for a king; God's only Son.Will the world receive him? will he stand alone?
Waiting for a king to come and take his throne.
In the fullness of time the Prince of Peace will come,
The promised Messiah, God's chosen One.
For those who are righteous, hope will be restored.
Their eyes will be opened, eyes will be opened, eyes will be opened, they will know the Lord.
Waiting for a king, ruling in might. Waiting for a king to shine in our night.
Will the world be ready when he comes to stay?
Waiting for a king. will this be the day?
In the bleak winter
In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
In the bleak midwinter, long ago.
Our God, Heaven cannot hold Him, nor earth sustain;
Heaven and earth shall flee away when He comes to reign.
In the bleak midwinter a stable place sufficed
The Lord God Almighty, Jesus Christ.
Enough for Him, whom cherubim, worship night and day,
Breastful of milk, and a mangerful of hay;
Enough for Him, whom angels fall before,
The ox and ass and camel which adore.
Angels and archangels may have gathered there,
Cherubim and seraphim thronged the air;
But His mother only, in her maiden bliss,
Worshipped the beloved with a kiss.
What can I give Him, poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
If I were a Wise Man, I would do my part;
Yet what I can I give Him: give my heart.
