Your Grace is enough for me!

My family and I have been looking for two things lately; house and a pet. I can tell you that to find both of them is not easy at all. Both of them are very important to be chosen because after we choose to be with, we need to be with it at least for several years. I have been worn out to look both! and started complaining and being whinny. How come someone has everything not me. I know all things has started again from "comparison". Honestly, I have had a pretty good life so far. I have wonderful super parents, family, husband, kids, and been given so much to enjoy. How can I be so whinny with those matter? On the way to work, there was a song from His radio "Your grace is enough for me". How about that! His endless love, grace, and Himself! All from Him is enough for me. I decided not to be whinny anymore instead, I will look to the Cross to remind myself how blessed I am from Jesus!! His grace and love.

'Ohana means...

My Summer Vacation in “Hawaiian way”
It is almost at the end of our summer break. I couldn’t go to any “vacation” with my family this summer. However, we have watched many movies at our home theatre. Because I envy one of choir members who went to Hawaii for her family vacation, I would like to share a movie which has a background of Hawaii. I especially would like to share a Hawaiian word, ‘ohana’. Here is a defination from Wikipedia. ‘Ohana means family in an extended sense of the term including blood-related, adoptive or intentional. It emphasizes that family and friends are bound together and members must cooperate and remember one another. If you have seen the movie, you would say what means and particular phrase after the characters say the word. ‘Ohana means family. Family means nobody get left behind or forgotten. It amazes me how they determine “family” itself. And the added following phrase has made me think a little bit deeper. We call ourselves “family in Christ”. However, I sometimes make definition the family as only blood-related or even smaller only my direct family, among Korean, or only RHUMC. Also, I even didn’t think about someone get left behind or forgotten among even small family. So, first, I decided to contact my family members to find out anyone gets left behind through phone calls and e-mail. As you know, most of my relatives are in Korea. It is not easy to contact them. However, I found couple of my cousins who have felt left behind. Second, I have started searching for anyone in our church family who get left behind or forgotten? And realized that if you want to find out who get left behind or forgotten, you should know them pretty well. So, I have started looking within church family whom I know well enough. I think I found what my vacation will be. I will send letters, cards, e-mail, or phone calls to find out who are missing in my ‘Ohana. Do you want to try it with me? Aloha! (Its original means affection, love, peace, compassion, and mercy in Hawaiian language.)

Heart of the farmer

I did have my first own grown tomatos in the U.S. recently. When I was young, one of my chores at home was watering plants in my parents’ house. We didn’t have any spring cooler system, so, I had to carry liturally the bucket to give the plants every time. Also, I had to say good words to the plants. My grandma taught me that the plants could hear and grow better with good words. So, I used to talk to the plants. Anyway, thirty years later now, I bought the self tomato kit from the walmart in the beginning of this spring and planted the seeds. I had to change pots for three times but I enjoyed a lot. I give water twice a day if it is hot. When storm came at the early stage of my plants, I got worried about the plants and moved them inside. However, after the plants got bigger, I let them be outside to deal with the storm themselves, even though I picked my window to observe closely. I don’t think my tomatoes are tastier than others from any groceries. However, they are meaningful to me. Of course, I talked to them again. And I even bought “miracle grow” to boost the plants. I think I am a pretty good farmer. Don’t you think?
Whenever I read the parable scripture of seeds, I could feel how Jesus as a farmer loves His plants. In Matthew 13, He let the plants grow with other weeds for good reason. I may not be able to understand God’s providence that He let the evil in the world among us. However, I could feel how much He thinks and loves about us to survive and grow among the weeds. Also, I believe that there must have been clear reasons. The life in the world never gets easy but I deteremined that I will keep growing and bearing good fruits because I have a good Farmer behind me.

I give my song

I remembered the question I got for my baptism when I was sixteen. “What is the purpose of men?” and the booklet already had an answer as “to glorify the Lord”. Also, I answered as written. Of course, I passed the question and got baptized. However, I have thought about the answer for a while. Is it the right answer? Does God need to be glorified by people? He is already “the one”, “GOD”. I have thought, of course, we worship and praise Him to glorify Him. However, I think what He really wants to have from us is “relationship”; living relationship, active relationship. Please, understand me. I am not an ordained minister and I am just sharing my thought. He is our living God. I would like to lift up our song to express our love to the Lord this week. Here is the anthem text. Let’s be alive, and active to show our love to the Lord.

“I give my song” by Joseph Martin
What can I give to God my Creator? What can I do to show my love?
What can I give to my Lord and my Savior? What can I bring? What can I bring?
What can I give to the Lord of Creation? What do I have that;s worthy of Him? What can I bring Lord High Prince of heaven? What can I bring? What can I bring?

I can sing Alleluia, Lord. I adore You. All my days I can sing Your praise. I can give my song to You. Lord, I adore You. All my days I can sing Your praise. I can give my song to You.
He fills my mouth with the joy of music, He fills my hear with the sounds of His love.
He fills my life with the peace of His Spirit. Now I can sing, now I can sing.

I can sing Alleluia, Lord. I adore You. All my days I can sing Your praise. I can give my song to You. Lord, I adore You. All my days I can sing Your praise. I can give my song to You.

Kneeling

I noticed that kneeling is hard among big people who have longer legs. However, among Korean, we kneel a lot especially when we seriously pray. I love to kneel. Whenever I kneel, I feel giving up everything before my God. I am humble when I kneel. I want to start my new week with a kneeling prayer. I found out myself that I have started making excuses not kneeling to pray lately. I know, it is not matter of how we pray but when I kneel, I can hear better and pour out my heart to the Lord more. Lord, I am kneeling right now to confess that I am nothing, but you are everything.
